Apply for a High Interest Current Account

It only takes a few minutes to open a Halifax High Interest Current Account online.

Before you begin, make sure you have the following details to hand.

  • Details of your current bank account (if any).
  • Your employer's name and address.
  • Details of your previous address if you've lived at your current address for less than three years.

 This product may be right for you if...
  • You can pay at least £1000 into your account every month.
  • You would like a high rate of interest when you pay in £1000 every month. This acccount pays 5.12% AER - 5% gross (before tax) - on balances up to £2500.
  • You would like an overdraft. This account offers a rate of 15.9% EAR when you pay in £1000 every month (typical 19.5% EAR variable). The amount of overdraft we give you depends on your personal and financial circumstances.


Calls from BT landlines will cost no more than 2p a minute plus a 7p connection fee. The price of calls through other phone companies and from mobile phones will be different.  Lines are open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturdays, and 9am to 5pm Sundays.
